Appreciating Figure Skating
Last weekend the Lewis family went to the local skating rink for their holiday show. As you may know Matt Savoie (US Olympic figure skater) is from Peoria. So he was to be the final performer. As the Lewis' watched the program they saw children as young as 5 years old do their own solo performances. They all did well, there were the occasional mess ups and falling down.....and then the Lewis' realized just how good all those figure skaters they see on tv really are. A greater appreciation for the "easy" moves they speak of through the programs are the challenging ones these athletes were trying to perform. So when Matt Savoie came out it was all the more amazing. Never underestimate the skill, talent and hard work that goes into all those "easy" maneuvers next time you watch it on tv!
